Rose des vents, the Dior jewelry collection that brings good luck!

Here is a more in-depth look at the long necklace, the four bracelets and four necklaces that make up this collection of small jewelry where a grain of rice gold twist encircles the medallion, showing in turn a hard stone side or a wind rose side, depending on the rhythm instilled by our movements. Yellow gold and mother-of-pearl, lapis lazuli or turquoise or even pink gold and pink opal… The jewels delicately tell a story echoing the sailors' rope and the open sea. “Rose des vents, says the artistic director of Dior Joaillerie, is also a metaphor for creation. To create is to seek, to go around in circles, and then to find its cardinal landmark and to set off on a journey. Creation is the imprint of a motionless journey. »
A story of luck
Rose des vents also refers to the superstitious character of Monsieur Dior. Indeed, the day of his first meeting with Monsieur Boussac (the man who financed the launch of the fashion house), he found a metal star in the street. To bring him luck, he kept it in his pockets all his life! The compass rose was also a symbol very present in the life of the couturier since there was one in the garden of his childhood home in Granville – he also paid homage to it by creating an eponymous haute couture dress. in 1950. All these beautiful stories can be found in the collection of small jewelery designed by Victoire de Castellane. "I wanted to start from the idea of a small patterned pendant," she explains. And what could be more allegorical than a medallion? Behind the symbol of travel, we find Christian Dior's star and the idea of a lucky charm, but also the rose, his favorite flower.
